Artist's Comments

The picture comes from the cover of The Ironwood Tree, the fourth book in The Spiderwick Chronicles. The illustrations are by Tony DiTerlizzi. Mallory Grace has been dressed up as a sleeping beauty by a bunch of dwarves, hence the outfit.

The original picture is in color, and stops at her waist, so that part's the best. The rest I'm not as happy with, but I inferred it using other illustrations throughout the book.

Meh, she's kind of crooked, but ignore that.

This isn't in a style I tend to do, so that was a challenge. I also had to learn to draw and texture using shading, not lines. While I still can't visualize that in my own mind and put it on paper, I copied it much better than I thought I would! So I'm very happy about that :D
